After a big fire: psb implements in record time a small parts warehouse
for the manufacturer of high-quality bathroom fittings Dornbracht

After a devastating fire, which also destroyed the entire in-house logistics system at Dornbracht, psb installed a new small parts warehouse in the almost »record-breaking« time of only two and a half months. In order to master this challenge, the time dedicated to all project steps necessary for a professional implementation was reduced to an absolute minimum. The new production philosophy is supported by a peripheral, automated buffer warehouse. The small parts warehouse has been established right in the middle of the manufacturing area, which is supplied with small items according to the »short way principle«. With this concept, the handling of the growing diversity of the products offered by Dornbracht, with regard to logistics processes, is managed. In addition to a standard inbound/outbound conveyor track to the order picking station, live storage channels, which are automatically supplied by the AS/RS miniload crane in push-back technique, have been established. The operations are coordinated by an innovative selektron control and IT concept, which stands out for its consistent modular structure. With this concept, the individual in-house logistics units with their functions, data, processes and interfaces are combined separately in a way, that they can operate almost independently.
