Multi-deep storage of totes or cartons has become standard in automated AS/RS stacker crane systems. psb has implemented this type of economic and efficient warehousing in its vario.sprinter shuttles already at an early stage and offers a wide range of load handling devices. Depending on the particular applications, the warehouse is designed for single or multi-deep storage.

The benefits are obvious: The multi-deep storage of totes or cartons (i.e. transport modules) allows for a very compact storage – especially in the medium performance range, when relocation operations of the transport modules can be carried out directly in the warehouse, by maintaining the required performance. The basic equipment, as vario.sprinter shuttle, lift, transport module, conveyor technology, has to be installed only once. This provides for a high storage capacity, at reasonable investment costs.

This storage concept with shuttles can also be implemented, if a higher number of transport modules has to be handled, because the number of vario.sprinter utilized in a storage aisle can be adapted individually. The maximum configuration allows for one vario.sprinter per storage level, thus providing an extremely high performance, even with multi-deep storage.
