The first psb service app for all common smartphones

Despite enhanced functionality, requiring increasingly complex control modules, serviceability is essential, in order to maintain a high availability of any system installation.

Automatically operating systems in particular, like the psb carobot AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicle), or the psb vario.sprinter (shuttle system), are equipped with high-performance real time control systems, in order to manage the most varied operations decentrally and without putting additional load on the other system controls. The processes shall, under no circumstances, restrict neither the plant operators nor the service staff. With the psb service app for all common smartphones, the system installations can be made available again rapidly in a case of breakdown.

Usually, in complex extensive system installations, the customer’s service personnel are supported by the psb SCADA systems, in order to identify an error quickly. Up to now, support on site was only possible with laptops, etc. With this new service application (service app), each service engineer is able to perform a diagnosis and is able to react accordingly, on the spot.

Some technical details: The carobot and vario.sprinter controls contain a webserver function, which will be extended by a psb software module. This module provides access to core information on the control system, by means of all common web browsers. These controls always communicate via WLAN, so that wireless access is provided with each WLAN-enabled (WiFi) mobile phone and smartphones, as e.g. iPhone or HTC. As a matter of course, the relevant security standards are adhered.

The screen, which has been particularly designed for the display size of these phones, is directly stored in the controls, so that any information can be accessed independently of the other system parts. Please, may we remind you that this psb service app can be also installed in older psb systems.
